Apr. 3rd, 2004 08:00 pmMore actual content should be coming soon, when I feel less likely to bore people with ranting and whining. ;)
In the meantime, snagged from
beingjdc, here is a .
1. What is your middle name?
Louise, for my maternal grandmother's little sister who died of rheumatic fever. I added another when I changed my last name.
2. If you had been born the other sex, did your parents tell you what your name would have been?
My father wanted to name me Zebulon (even better, Zebulon Edward Brewer) and call me Zeb, after a favorite great-uncle. My mother assured me that this never would have come to pass, but I'm not sure I believe her.
3. Do you have children and if so, what are their names?
None, and I think I would know.
4. If you were to ever have a child or more children, what would you name them?
Whatever suited them as people.
5. Most people know their mother's maiden name, but do you know your grandmother's maiden name?
As
beingjdc pointed out, "Why are people only giving one answer to this, do we not mostly have two grandmothers?" Wickline and Shrader, though the concept of "maiden names" (as opposed to a person's name, married or no) is a relatively recent one here. I could go on for several more generations, off the top of my head, but won't.
6. Did you have an imaginary friend as a child?
Not that I recall.
7. What was the name of your first pet?
Calico the goldfish. We had Sam, a large English Setter, at the house too, but he was mainly my mother's friend and tended to make me wary by being so big and hyper. My first mammalian pet was Dandy, another even larger Setter (my grandfather bred for quite heavily-built Llewellyn types, for hunting rather than show), but he didn't put me off. Being a little older may have helped.
8. What was the name of the first person you ever kissed?
I'd rather not think about that extended attack of poor judgment, but his name is Andy.
9. What was the name of the school you attended as a child?
Preston Elementary School (which seems to have closed...waah!)-->(moved) Belle Heth Elementary School-->John N. Dalton Intermediate School-->Radford High School-->(transferred by choice) Pulaski County High School
10. What was/is the name of your English teacher in high school?
I cannot even picture the first one with my sieve of a memory, Mrs. Hartman (a bit scattered but OK, for English Lit. the second year), Ms. Steele (a truly odd duck, for American Lit., the third year; good in that I managed to successfully fake more than one essay without reading horribly tedious things just by listening to her in class), and Mr. Kasik (one of the few I actually respected, and sharper than most; had him for dual enrollment Freshman Comp.--gratis university credit while fulfilling the English requirement--the last year).
11. Do you name your vehicles? What are the name(s)?
I generally don't, but the elderly (and rather loud) diesel VW I have now just cried out to be called the Mad Bumblebee.
