I just noticed a spam with "Enjoy Carbs" in the subject line, and it set off another minor fit of irritation. (Other than by its being spam, in the first place.)

That is one of the more aggravating abbreviations I've run across, and it seems to turn up in more places every day. I have to wonder how many people are not even aware what a carbohydrate is, even in the simplest "read the package label" sense, with the mindless "carb" bombardment. It strikes me as a superfluous abbreviation, besides being less than obvious--particularly in the context of the advertising business's "Only 5 Carbs". Five what? No units offered, only an abbreviation which brings to mind carburetors, carbines, or carbuncles before the apparently intended carbohydrates.

Throw in the additional irritating effect of having "low-carb" eating plans relently pushed for profit, and I am starting to feel snarly every time I see the abbreviation. I do think I'll stick with my low-Carbona diet anyway.

The lack of units when referring to carbs bothers me also. I am forced to assume that it refers to some kind of "carb point" related to one of those diet plans.

Either that or it's just because everybody is an idiot. ;)

Not a low-Carbonara diet, then? Of course, well-made Pasta Carbonara tends to be quite nice, indeed, so I can see not wanting to give that up.
