[livejournal.com profile] vatine took today and tomorrow off work, so we decided to head for the British Museum this morning. We picked up breakfast on the way, and it was a pleasant enough morning out until about a block and a half from the museum. Crossing the street, I managed to trip--apparently over my own feet, as frequently seems to be the case--and gave both my right ankle and (iffy) knee a good wrench. Had he not been right there to grab onto, I'd have fallen on my face, very hard.

Badly afflicted as I am with "must show no weakness" syndrome, I tried to hobble around the museum gamely until it became obvious that this was not the greatest possible idea (i.e., once the initial endorphins had worn off a bit). I have no idea why I do this; it really is strange behavior. Finally, I did have to admit that I needed to sit down for a while--then, once I was seated, that cutting the visit short might be wise. *gasp*

So, after popping into Forbidden Planet (must look at books!), we headed home. Standing up on the Central Line almost all the way to Stratford was fun, as I tried to put almost all my weight on one leg. [livejournal.com profile] vatine was sweet; he kept asking if I were O.K., and suggested a cab back from the station instead of the bus to reduce walking. He brought me popcorn after we got in, too. :)

I did feel like a dunce for cutting the day short with a stunt like that, but I don't suppose it could be helped. Surely I wouldn't keep pulling things like that if it could. *sigh*

In closer-to-news, three guys came around early (too early for all the noise!) this morning and hauled off all the detritus the former upstairs neighbors left lying around. They even cleared out the shed in back and picked up the smaller rubbish strewn about. Yay! This is, admittedly, probably more newsworthy to those who have been looking at the crap every day.

Hey, no worries, I foresee more days ambling around London doing the "tourist" thing.
