Sep. 6th, 2003 05:54 pmYay! I finally got my refilled meds this morning. This means I'm a bit drowsy, but that's better than some of the possible alternatives had I continued not to take them.
For some strange reason, even though I did mention that I was going on a trip the last time I saw Dr. Dubner, I neglected to ask him to write the prescriptions for, say, a month and a half instead of the usual month. It must not have occurred to him either. Nor did it occur to me that absolutely nobody would ship my refills to the U.K.--my parents picked them up and tried everyone from FedEx to the USPS. It's not as if there is any great street value/abuse potential for Topamax, and one can order such things from overseas. Dumb.
The "less than a week without" (which hardly seemed worth seeking a GP over there and paying for medication out of pocket) stretched into three weeks, as I've mentioned. Then, when I got home, the pharmacy bag containing my prescriptions had mysteriously disappeared! We never did find it. And the lousy Virginia Premier people would not pay for more before time for the next refill, though the doctor was certainly amenable to authorising it.
Ah well. I may be a bit groggy for a few days, but many people could be in worse shape after a month with no mood stabilizer. I'm just glad to have the meds back, just in case.
