A very simple, if rare, pleasure: software that actually performs as described, much less seems to suit my needs very well. After looking for a different Gnutella client, I've tried Mutella for about a week now, and it's been a pleasure to use so far. It has all the simple command-line goodness of Gnut, with 0.6 protocol compliance and a lot more features (like a nifty saved-search and autoget). It doesn't go insane every time my dialup connection drops, like Qtella does, and is completely devoid of the Java (and general) ickiness of Limewire, while having better capabilities for my needs, at any rate. I'm pretty picky, and have been impressed.

Another rather elegant application I'll mention, while I'm at it, is the one I'm using now to update--[livejournal.com profile] ljcharm. Charm is another I like on the basis of simple command-line interface. I like eye-candy, but appreciate more an application that really does its job well. I also like that it's written in Python (which I keep meaning to settle down better to learning), and is pretty portable, though I haven't tried it off of *nix so far. Overall, very nice.
