urocyon: Grey fox crossing a stream (Default)

I ran cross this site, and about fell over laughing. (Shades of [livejournal.com profile] do_not_lick's spotting of the SUV with a horrible spoiler.) Then again, I think the best car mod I've seen so far involved (a) not getting body work after a fender-bender and (b) gluing rather large plastic dinosaurs on the damaged hood; at least it showed some humor.

That reminds me, I finally peered carefully at my car today, and at least I didn't do any particularly noticeable damage to it when I embarrassed myself Wednesday night. (Not that it matters so much with the Mad Bumblebee, but still...) I went out with someone for the first time alone--had only been around him a couple of times in group situations--and I got to be the lucky driver. So, a few minutes after we left, a combination of nerves and trying to show him the window controls sapped my concentration enough that I sideswiped a guardrail, pretty hard. On his side of the car, of course--even better! Thank goodness it was just past a stop, and I hadn't gotten up above 20 mph yet. And, again on the brighter side, he reacted remarkably well to my appearing to be a reckless maniac. (Which I may well be; still, I generally drive better than that. *g*)

I did narrowly avoid hitting a deer last night, with someone else in the car, but guardrails don't tend to leap into the roadway in front of you--a little different situation. Or so I tell myself. ;)

Oh, and I'm not entirely sure that I'm even supposed to be driving, technically. My license was suspended over a parking ticket my dad got, driving my car. Does he bother to tell me about the ticket? No, the first I hear of it is when I get a notice in the mail that my license has been pulled for failure to pay the fine plus accumulating fees, six months after the fact if I recall correctly. I suspect that I didn't receive a notice or two before that, nor likely a summons; I've already had to go to court over another of his parking tickets. The practice of pulling people's licenses over that sort of thing aggravates me, and not just from the viewpoint of personal inconvenience. Mine should have been reinstated by now--that's how I'm proceeding, partially because I am irked--but the Commonwealth of Virginia is certainly not hopping to send out notices of reinstatement.
