Here are a few more of Max, from just a little while ago. I'm already liking his new doggy backpack, which came in the post this morning; it did seem to tire him out more quickly! We started with a water bottle on one side, and a can of tomatoes on the other. Before the next walk, I'll adjust the straps again so they're not dangling.

Brown with red paw prints was not my first choice of color, but that was the least expensive. It doesn't look like much, but it works. :)

We did not have to stop at all this morning, to get him to quit pulling on the lead. Yay Max!

Sorry these are a little blurry. I didn't notice until we were back home.

You can tell he was getting more nervous as we paused.

He's being pretty stubborn with the Excitajump, and my legs are scratched up from his dewclaws (trimming should help). He's just the right size to grab me behind the knees with them. Patience is required, I guess. There's been a lot for him to get excited about lately, and the whining is not working for him.

Oh he is SO adorable!

Staffies are very excitable dogs and I believe they are slightly mad, but that's what I love about them :)

My dog needed his dew claws surgically removed... is that an option for Max?

Most I've met have been adorably mad--you're right. :)

Once he learns not to jump as much, his dewclaws shouldn't be a problem. We walked over to Pets At Home and picked up some nail clippers after lunch! Was your dog snagging the claws on things? That's the main reason I've seen them removed, but that was mostly with working/gundogs.

The jumping is actually better today. We picked up a remote training collar, mainly to get his attention when he gets fixated on chasing or barking at cats. (I may not like them normally, but the situation seemed to warrant it.) He was unintentionally tearing my legs up enough that I started using it yesterday when he jumped up. A warning tone from around his neck is enough to get him to stop, though I've only had to use it a few times so far! :)

Go Max!

It looks like he's one of those dogs who need to have their attention channeled - but this sounds like an excellent solution for tiring him out a bit.

Yeah, I tend to like high energy dogs, though it can get annoying when it's not channeled properly! Now we're trying to figure out some other things to direct some of that energy toward.
