Jul. 19th, 2005 02:44 amAll the mentions of kitten photos earlier reminded me that I still hadn't gotten around to posting a link to the wedding pictures we have at this point--courtesy of one of the guests, Anders Årstrand.
Never mind that they're from this past September... *wry smile*
-- Still hoping that even a still camera adds 20+ pounds.

Date: 2005-07-19 05:21 am (UTC)In doing my genealogy work I've discovered that through my Mother's side I am descended from the broken MacFie Clan. So I'm fascinated with tartans now ;-)

Date: 2005-07-19 12:05 pm (UTC)Ingvar was wearing Hunting MacRae. I considered it an honor, since Swedes aren't known for having their own tartans, that he chose to wear one of my family's on the wedding day, instead of going with plain black wool as he'd initially considered. :) My dad was in Royal Stuart, since his own kilt had gotten too tight to wear, and that was the only Stuart one he could rent at short notice.
Ah, I hadn't heard of the MacFie clan before--will have to look for information, now my curiosity is piqued.

That is quite nice of him to wear your family tartan; he looks good in it. When I win the lottery I might go for a full skirt and shawl.

Date: 2005-07-19 04:54 pm (UTC)That reminds me, I should either get my mom to send my shawl (http://home.i-plus.net/scathach/personal/c_othello&me.jpg)* (MacRae Red), or pick it up the next time I'm there. The day-length kilted skirt is a lost cause, I'm afraid, unless I can find someone to take it in so it won't fall down!
If you do decide to get a skirt and shawl, I'd highly recommend this place (http://www.scotsware.com/) in Greensboro. It's a home business, run by the head of the Appalachian Branch of Clan MacMillan, and both the prices and service were excellent when I ordered things from them several years ago. It looks like the selection of other stuff has expanded since then, but the prices still look good (well, as good as they get for this sort of thing!).
* Yep, a not-so great older picture, where my mom surprised me with a camera, but it does show the tartan. ;) The blue and green look vaguely black, though.
