The kittens are duly vaccinated, and hardly seemed to notice it. I have seen the light, and it involves minicabs. The last vet's trip involved a bus change, lugging the carrier entirely too far on foot, and about as much jostling as one would expect. Not too kind to kittens, or to Rachels. This afternoon, for a simple phone call and £5 each way (including rather paltry tip), someone arrived at the door in an air-conditioned vehicle--and returned to the vet's to retrieve us within five minutes of another call. Bliss. *g*

Speaking of bliss, I took a look at the forecast and rigged up the air conditioner exhaust hose this morning, in a manner scarily reminiscent of Sidney's work. (MacGyver he ain't.) This required some semi-frenzied effort with the foam hose-to-window fittings--only intended for a sliding window, bleh--a utility blade, some handy styrofoam, sticky tape, bubble wrap, and an old shirt of vatine's from the rag box. Now the hose outlet is fitted, and the opening-out window as sealed as it's going to get with such materials and 45 minutes' work. (Possibly a third of this time being taken up by things repeatedly falling out the window and needing retrieved via the front door, or in one lucky case, speared from inside with an already broken-tipped sabre.) This may all need to be dismantled before bed, but that's a moment's work. *wry smile*

So there is now air conditioning, and it is good.

As was ruthi and oscarhocklee's wedding reception Saturday. Very enjoyable company. I can't help but feel like I should say more, but they already know I want them to be happy and such. :)
