Jitters, to put it mildly

I feel like something of a broken record lately, but today I've managed a stress level surprising even for me. *wry smile* I think I got feeling particularly overwhelmed; the responsibilities of obtaining the fiancée visa and planning a wedding felt like they were about to come crashing down on me. I know there is no need to let this worry me like a rat, but I suspect still having the remnants of the Evil Plane Flu (with the usual retroviral effects on my mood) opened things up just enough so that it could.
Must repeat: I'm actually good at organising things, and there is plenty of time! *g*
In related news,
vatine trekked out to Hornchurch this morning and got a provisional booking at the Register Office (noon on Friday, 20 Sept.). A receipt should be forthcoming with other documents, when they're ready to send.
I also found a pattern I like for my dress--decidedly non-meringuelike, not even from the regular evening/bridal section. (If there's one idea I've always detested, were I to get married, it's looking like a meringue.) It's a reisssue of a 1947 pattern, and is lovely. My mom had a gander at it, and thought it would be quite flattering, as well--she should know, having worked as a seamstress-with-actual-needles. *g* I should learn to trust my judgment on these things. :) Fabric shopping is in order, once neither of us feels as if we should be under quarantine. School House Fabrics in Floyd (so named because it's in an old school) tends to have the best selection of silks and whatnot, so is likely to be our first stop. Choosing something to wear is one less concern at this point, at least.
I imagine I will calm down a bit (for Rachel values of calm) soon enough, but I also suppose it's normal to get a little, erm, "excitable" under the circumstances, even so far in advance. I will try not to post such things excessively, whatever happens. ;)

Date: 2004-03-03 03:37 pm (UTC)Here's the pattern (http://store.sewingtoday.com/cgi-bin/voguepatterns/shop.cgi?s.item.2610=x&TI=20006&pageNum=1&M=&UK=32292926) I'm strongly considering in evening-length; not sure what colors/fabric until we go shopping. There are a few more under the "Vintage Vogue" link on the left.
Remember: deep breaths, and not too much shrieking. Hopefully. ;)
