Dec. 10th, 2003 05:08 amThe strangest things will tip one over. I'd been wondering for a while if it might not be a good idea to try again to look into the (excellent-looking) possiblity of having CFS or fibromyalgia--my symptoms were dismissed the one time I mentioned them to my old GP--particularly since they've become more "acceptable" diagnoses, and my mother was finally diagnosed with fibromyalgia. What interested me further, though, was reading about the frequent connection between PTSD and CFS/fibromyalgia symptoms, presumably because one gets completely wrung out from the constant tension.
Actually, it rather surprised me that I hadn't run across a reference to this link before. I've been told more than once that I have glaringly obvious PTSD, even working around the strange DSM-III guidelines (at that point), but have really only done very surface research. Strange for me. No wonder I got a minor kick out the title of one site I ran across: Everything you wanted to know about PTSD but were too traumatised to ask. *g* I also thought it was interesting to find that persistently elevated cortisol levels (from stress or otherwise) can damage the hippocampus; perhaps there's a good reason I've felt duller in some areas, and have not been imagining things.
No, I don't intend to turn this into a catalogue or running commentary of my health; please excuse. :)

My, does that sound familiar. *wry smile*
