After days of fun with transferring money, I should finally be able to book my return flight tomorrow. :) Thank goodness it turned out that BA will exchange my ticket, after all (even if it did take a trip to their travel shop at Canary Wharf to find this out). This meant a difference of 200UKP for the exchange vs. US$800+ for a new ticket at the last minute.

Transferring over that amount to my (near-maxed-out) Mastercard shouldn't have been at all complicated. It did, unfortunately, entail borrowing money. So the first day of this--after waiting for a quote from the travel agent last weekend, then finding out what was possible from BA--saw my mom transferring too little money. From the amount, I suspect there was some confusion about what monetary unit should be attached to the "200" I told her over the phone; I think it was parsed as dollars and not pounds. (I should have been clearer, in that case.) The second day, more funds were transferred into my checking account, and my dad decided to be helpful and move some over to my card online; I do wish I'd remembered to change that password after he made a payment for me the day we left for CCDE. Again, his payment wasn't quite enough--though only about $40 short this time, assuming I wanted to buy food and train fare.

Unfortunately, that card account is limited to one payment in a 24-hour period. The final fun was waiting yesterday for that payment to be credited. And waiting. This morning, I saw that the smaller, supplemental transfer I'd made yesterday had been credited, while the earlier one still had not. It took me a little while to figure this out, but then I remembered that one can only pay the balance plus 10%, and a couple of charges had not yet cleared, though they'd been deducted from available funds. (Yes, this is the low-limit card.) Finally, today I managed to move over as much money as I should need for the ticket exchange, plus a little for expenses; it should be credited tomorrow so that I can have more ATM fun and head back to the BA Travel Shop. Yay. No need to scream now, I hope.

Ah well--it may not sound like it, but I've been doing the best I can. At this point, I'm full willing to give up excitement for simplicity. :) It really is about time I got home; I'm more than a week overdue as it is. Thank goodness for pleasant company, though I certainly never intended to crash for this long! I've been enjoying myself here, but am starting to miss the animals and my bed and Blue Blankie. Oh, and the family too, I suppose. *g*
