Aug. 16th, 2003 12:49 pmI managed to miss my flight Thursday evening, so I'm still in the UK. It may have been for the best, given the lovely blackout which would have started while we were in the air. The series of delays was really rather odd; I may have a general problem with running late, but never before for something important like heading for the airport.
Though I got a little upset Thursday, I'm actually not complaining. Nobody else seemed to be upset, and there are far worse places to be stuck. I do have somewhere to stay with good company--company I wasn't so keen on leaving in the first place. My mother had to remind me of the thought of this having happened instead on the horrible trip before Christmas, and I wished she hadn't; still, it provides quite a contrast. *g*
I should know more later today about going home. My mom is handling the arrangements for a return ticket so far as possible, and I think things should be far more stable with regards to the blackout today; she thought it was better to wait a day or two to book anything. So, we'll have to see.
Oh yes--I am beginning to wonder how long it should take to recover from the ultra-hot-weather sleep deficit. It's been cooler for days now, and I slept like a dead creature again last night. I don't recall needing more than a night or two in past to make up for that sort of thing. I must say, about the last thing I expected was for the London area to feel like Charlotte (a.k.a. Hell, at least in summer). That was quite disconcerting, besides generally unpleasant.
