Update: B.B. has a home, after all :)
Dec. 8th, 2008 01:12 pmThanks for the offers of help with B.B.--I really appreciate it. Thank goodness, it turns out that she does have a new home, after all. Yesterday, I spent most of the day up at Tim's, and they're planning to adopt her. I hadn't thought of their well-finished basement, but she can stay in there without shedding dander all over the upstairs, and Debbie doesn't spend much time down there. She'll probably end up sleeping with Bryce, since he's lurking down there these days, which would be good for both of them. :)
I got my time frame off before, thinking it was a day later than it was, and have not hit the road for NC today, either. That cedar box hasn't shown up yet, and I'm down with the flu anyway. (Great fun over a night in the teens (F), keeping throwing the blankets on and off. :/) I did get my flight back booked yesterday, at Tim's--yay for broadband and functioning printers!--and am due back in the U.K. Saturday morning. If I'm able to take off in the next couple of days, that'll still leave me with some time to spend down there, before heading back for Tim's on Thursday or Friday. I'm avoiding coming back here, if possible.
I'm finally getting that deer's foot boiled up for bones today--I put off dealing with it earlier, having managed to puncture the scent gland while skinning the leg. Yuck. Some latex gloves and vinegar came in handy, and I'm glad to have gotten that taken care of. It's still a little aromatic. :/ The hockskin is well dried now, with a little salting just in case, so that should be ready to go. Materials are easier to come by here, what with prions and all, but that should be ready for soaking and tanning after I get home.
Yep, gifted items are launching me into some rather unaccustomed art materials, even as they're inducing me to get off my butt and actually make some things. I needed some shoving. It's probably a good thing, overall, but I'm not necessarily liking some of the details at the moment. It's somewhat lucky that the vegan thing didn't work for me. *shakes head*
