Jan. 12th, 2006 11:44 pmWe have floor!
Here's our shiny new hallway. I'm a little spoiled by older real oak, but this doesn't look at all bad for laminate, and of course it's a relief finally to have it down. (That's actually a Rustic Cherry finish, though we considered pseudooak of a couple of types.) Big thanks to
vatine for doing the worst of the work!
The last bit of flooring was really installed yesterday evening, but I'd already started cooking Autopilot Enchiladas, so we waited until tonight for a bit of a celebratory dinner at the Mongolian Barbeque at Covent Garden. Ingvar had been meaning to drag me there for a while. It was a pleasant night out, with a tasty meal--I do like the "assemble your own" Mongolian grill style. This one was even better than the one I'd been going to most recently in VA, since they had more fish and other seafood out, besides a good assortment of vegetables and other meats. Now I am chile-ginger-fished out for at least a couple of days. :) I even voluntarily ordered coffee with bourbon afterward, which might surprise some. Though a little heavy on the spirits, it wasn't bad at all.
Since I'm overdoing the photo links again, there's a pretty good one of a glaring Mirrors, after we got home tonight. And here we look like a good pair!
I got another prompt to start back to the writing this afternoon, this time from a show on (mainly technological) innovations during the period in question. (So I am considering going to bed now!) Consistently applying bottom to seat and regularly turning out pages is, indeed, being the persistent problem. It doesn't really surprise me, though I'd hoped a touch more discipline would get around it. Tomorrow I will try to turn out at least five pages.
