Ten possibly uncommon things I've done:

1. Had poetry published in a paying market which folded before it could actually pay me.

2. Having noticed them at the last moment, leapt over copperheads in my path, on three separate occasions, before the age of six. (Now I can't help keeping my eyes peeled for pit vipers and poison ivy, even here in the UK.)

3. Managed to destroy the anterior cruciate ligaments in both knees in very silly ways totally unrelated to the basketball and skateboarding various people predicted might cause injury.

4. Spent an entire day hopelessly lost with my cousin Pete on the trails in Seashore State Park, mainly in the middle of cypress swamp (decent photos on the linked page). Remarkable, even with my sense of direction.

5. Brought in a feral cat--Bungee's friend--who stood, arched, on my bedroom windowsill for three days. (Well, I never saw him move until he dashed into the bathroom and jumped into that window.)

6. In high school, purchased two 1976 Datsun B210s (120Ys for the British market, IIRC) in a row, without intending to do so; the second one was the best car we could find for funds available when I needed another, thanks to a valve job by morons who didn't replace the head gasket.

7. Started the first Ramones-related mailing list in '96 when I had too much time on my hands--still the only one, AFAIK. Haven't passed it along to someone else so far, mainly for sentimental reasons.

8. Trying to plant rosebushes, dug down--at two feet or less--into the top of a cave at two different points in my front yard in Virginia. The joys of karstland! :)

9. Been mistaken for a random little girl on the phone, asking for her mommy. By my own aunt, when I was at least 23.

10. Did a few welding demonstrations at the 1979 or 1980 Bluefield Coal Show, in my father's booth representing Cronatron. "Simple enough for a child to use", and all that. My mom was not amused, but I did get piggyback rides around the place from Lou Ferrigno, who was appearing there for some reason. Green makeup or no, still pretty thrilling. *g*

Number 3.. from an accident where I was knocked off my cycle - only damaged the cruxiate in one knee, but badly enough that the knee still dislocates on occasions now 28 years later!
