May. 1st, 2004 04:59 pmYay, we now have a bed (or pieces thereof, anyway). The IKEA delivery people came by a little while ago. There are sheets and pillowcases, but unfortunately no mattress pad--I looked on the delivery list, and it's not on there, either. I'm still trying to decide whether to try to set the bed up, or if leaving it disassembled until we get the mattress pad might be a better plan to leave more room. Right now, a short nap is looking good, since I had to take more antihistamines after emptying the vacuum cleaner bag.
I had no idea whether to tip the delivery people, so didn't--always a fun situation.
Edit: Interesting that
jeremysavage posted this link. When my mother called this afternoon, she went into why we don't have May Day there anymore; she'd just learned about the goings-on in Chicago and the holiday's bad press after that. Apparently, much of the South held onto it longer than most of the rest of the U.S., and they still had school maypole dances when she was a kid.
And more evidence that it is, indeed, a small world: I just saw a mention of someone who graduated from PCHS the same year I did on my friends page. The name is distinctive enough that I doubt it's somebody else who happens to be from western VA.
