urocyon: Grey fox crossing a stream (Default)
Especially since I came down with some kind of cold or flu, I've been running out of steam before I can plop down in front of the keyboard and actually write things. With any luck, this will improve soon. ATM, at least five blog posts are waiting to be translated into words.

Got back a little while ago from a rather thorough Maxercise session. We went up to the playing fields and adjoining vacant lot, and it did turn out to be a great place to let him off leash. With his backpack still on, to tire him out more! He found a gap in the fence to the playing fields, and had to join in on a football match with some kids and another dog, for a while. Nobody minded. The main drawback to going up there is that I think he lapped at the yummy scummy Rom water. Yikes! :/

My blood sugar read 7.8/140 after we got in, with half a glass of diluted juice already drunk. I'd better get some more test strips. With any luck, the GP will issue a repeat prescription for that without/before an office visit, so I can get them free.

Something lovely was waiting when we got back: half the bathroom floor was flooded. At first, I assumed it was a toilet overflow--with the appropriate cursing--but I had evidently left the water trickling in the bidet (a.k.a. the cat fountain). We really do need to clean or replace that trap. :( At least it wasn't nasty water, so just created an extra towel load to wash. Good thing [livejournal.com profile] vatine was planning to pick up cat litter on the way home, anyway! One of the boxes is filled almost to the brim with water, and I haven't felt like dealing with that yet.

Extra dampness isn't something that bathroom needs, anyway. I am half tempted to put the space heater in there for a while, to try and get things dried out some. Project for this evening: open up the dehumidifier to see where it's leaking, so hopefully we can fire that up again!

Ah, the joys of home ownership.

We have some spiced split pea and brown rice pilaf already cooked, to go with an attempt at Circassian turkey (with, you guessed it, reduced turkey breast!). Mmm, walnuts. Lately I've been trying to cook more things I haven't made before. The pilaf aroma is making me hungry, but I am trying not to attack it before supper.

Ah yes, the cypress does seem to work very well here in the place of red cedar. I found some more on the ground yesterday, when I was starting to run low. I've been going through more since I started using it along with morning song.

  • 17:16 @randomswede Surprised you wanted more vaguely Greek salad. :) I almost cleaned up the leftovers for lunch, and am slighly envying yours. #
