urocyon: Grey fox crossing a stream (Default)
I just got back from the postal depot. Either they didn't ring the bell this morning, or I didn't hear it through the earplugs. Thank goodness, the cheap AC adaptor I ordered finally showed up. I wanted it to run the external speakers for my mp3 player, which were picked up for nursing home music therapy but have since been pressed into kitchen counter use.

I used to find my mother very embarrassing, listening to music and dancing around in the kitchen. Little did I know that, besides music being generally helpful, dancing around is easier on a knotty back than standing still on the hard tile floor. Duh. So, I've even found myself doing the injured turkey dance (which seems to be my default) to Electric Ladyland while washing dishes, which really used to make me cringe. *g*

The eBay seller I got the adaptor from is one of the few I have wanted to track down and beat with a hefty stick, possibly with nails in it. I bought the adaptor on the 4th of this month, and tried to pay straight off. They were routing checkout through Marketplace Advisor, which irked me to begin with. It would not let me pay. The seller took days to answer a couple of messages asking for a Paypal account (I did not think to navigate through Paypal to find it). Yep, I was getting pretty suspicious by this point. I finally got to pay them, and a week and a half later got a dunning e-mail. Grrr. So I forwarded them the Paypal invoice, and it's only now that the infernal thing showed up.

I'm glad it did, at any rate. And it works, which is even better.

I'm also glad I decided to come home and bus it to Tesco, instead of just riding the bike there after the postal depot. That's just about a 2 mile round trip, and it wore me out. Today I don't need another 2 miles to Tesco, and 2.5 home. Then again, I haven't been as active lately, and woke up with kinda wobbly legs. Mirrors and Punkin did a rather unusual tag team "claw at the blanket and outlying Mommy bits, then nose her under the chin" number to get me up this morning, so I wasn't in the best frame of mind, anyway!

Getting some exercise in the fresh air was good, even if I went by right when a nearby school was letting out and deranged parents were blocking the side street so that other cars couldn't get through. That did not stop one from almost clipping me, trying to slalom around me and through the narrow gap. It continues to amaze me, how some people managed to get licensed to career around in heavy steel contraptions. I don't think bribes will work with the DVLA, which is even more disturbing to consider.

Now I'm glad for a cup of tea, and am planning to head for Tesco when I finish it. This will actually be my first shopping trip so far this week. Usually I get some food every other day or so. Thank goodness for frozen vegetables!
