Drunken ice cream, erm, slurry
Mar. 1st, 2009 12:49 amI just checked the freezer again, and the ice cream mixture is anything but icy. Earlier, I got frustrated and put the container in there, just to see what would happen. There's barely even slush. Apparently lack of cold wasn't the problem.
Making that batch, I added a little rum, to keep it from freezing rock hard later without the sugar. (Decided to try it with about 1 part xylitol and 2 parts Splenda.) Next time I'll use a smaller "spoonful" of booze! Tomorrow, I'll probably throw together another batch of custard sans rum, and see how mixing it half-and-half works. Seems a shame to waste the otherwise tasty concoction, and I'm too fed up tonight. At least the freezy container will be nicely chilled again, by then.
