urocyon: Grey fox crossing a stream (Default)

[livejournal.com profile] vatine was off work yesterday--finally, after a weekend of twelve-hour shifts--but it turned out not to be too lazy a day, after all. We slept very late, and after a run across the road to Iceland for more things than intended, we put together more IKEA shelving in the tall kitchen cabinet. Well, I say "we", but I only helped again in a holding things sort of way. The shelves required some work with a router and jigsaw for the side pieces to fit in properly, then some more jigsaw cutting down to fit on the shelves themselves. Now there's far more usable space for food, having gone from the original one shelf to three. Yay.

Today saw another trek out to Chafford Hundred to pick up the mattress pad (which was apparently not in stock before) and a final piece of shelving from IKEA; these should be delivered tomorrow. Among the assorted little things we also grabbed, I got three cacti in little pots and a ladybug umbrella complete with silvery antennae. :) He picked out some salty licorice in the shape of herring--actually pretty cute.

On the way back, we did some scouting for a reception venue. The place he had spotted earlier appeared to have closed entirely, but we wound up inquiring about the upstairs of the Golden Lion. It didn't look at all bad, and is pretty convenient to public tranport, so we're penciled in. I'm still getting a bad case of the jitters when trying to do any sort of wedding planning, and am glad that seems to be taken care of, at least.

Ingvar is cooking some chickeny pasta right now, so I should probably leave off with more boring details. :)
