urocyon: Grey fox crossing a stream (Default)
[personal profile] urocyon
Today I was pretty stiff and sore, but made it out to Sainsbury's on the bike. Yesterday morning, I felt like I was really emulating my Nana, but not in a particularly good way: get up, slurp down some coffee, lurch around the patio with a watering can (it takes my motor control a while to boot up completely), get my feet tangled up and go crashing to the ground. The watering can was empty, at least.

It's a bit of a shame can only do this sort of thing unintentionally, since some people make decent money that way. I even amusingly broke a large planter with one shoulder blade, and knocked another one over while flailing. (They were plastic pseudo-terracotta, at least.) At least I found some dark humor in it, though most of my right side is not finding it so amusing since things have had time to stiffen up. Yet again, I am thankful for the Neanderthal-worthy bone density!

With any luck, Ingvar will be home soon, so he can smear more knockoff Tiger Balm on me. Today I'm too stiff to rub it on my own back. A hot shower and some Codis helped enough that I managed to get out for some sorely-needed food shopping. It should be better in a few days, judging from (too much) past experience.

While I was out, I also stopped by QD and picked up a length of coiled garden hose. I hope it'll come in handy tomorrow, when the new terrace pond will arrive with any luck. Being able to fill it without a bucket will certainly be helpful! Not too surprisingly, I couldn't bear to find new homes for our baby goldfish. We don't have room for another big tank, so they're getting a pond on the patio--well, all four of them except Runty, who is staying in the 60L tank they're in now. I especially couldn't let them go after seeing that at least two (possibly three) of the five have problems with their mouths. It doesn't seem to bother anyone but Runty, who has some trouble grabbing food because his mouth doesn't open very wide, but it still helped me get even more attached to the little things. If my Aunt Sally has Feel Sorry Farm, complete with sign, I suppose we really do have the smaller urban branch now!
